In 2018, the Amazon Development Centre Aachen participated in the “Aachener Firmenlauf” (business run) for the first time ever. Eight Amazonians joined the run on the grounds of the RWTH University. They were among 7,000 runners from a total of 500 local companies who signed up for the run. Our Amazon team participated in the 4.8 km run and ranked 86 out of 500 (team result), with a total run time of 1h 39 min. Alongside the track, more than 10,000 visitors cheered for the runners – and for the good cause: a 30,000 euros donation was made by local companies for three local charity organizations. “It was a great Amazon moment, and we were proud to run in the name of our company. It was awesome and exhausting at the same time!” says IT Support Engineer Markus Kaldenbach who organized the participation.
